Hi, I’m George Doubleday
I am a Civil & Environmental Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in land and water management. Before starting Sundowner Land & Events I served eleven years as a project manager and licensed project engineer for an international engineering firm, specializing in hydrology & hydraulics and stream restoration. I earned a Master’s of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Rice University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science from Texas Christian University.
My background and passion for ranch and wildlife management stems from nearly three decades of hunting and ranching. I am an avid outdoorsman and most recently my passion for land and native range management has steered me into the beef business, where I manage native grass pastures to raise premium grain and grass finished Akaushi beef.
My Approach
I want to connect landowners to their property through long term conservation and management practices that improve water efficiency, benefit native ecosystems, and help protect rural landscapes for more generations. I work with each landowner to identify priorities and objectives to improve their land, water, and wildlife resources and develop a plan to implement and monitor the improvements.
Dream it
During the reconnaissance phase I will spend time with you on the property to assess current conditions of the land and understand your dream for how to improve it. We will work together to develop a vision with a restoration plan that is beautiful, functional, and achievable.
Build it
During the implementation phase I will bring skilled personnel and equipment to construct land and water conservation practices established in the restoration plan. Pre- and post-project imagery and measurement data is used to document changes during the monitoring phase.
